part of the Brazilian Colonial History of the XVII century,

Belo
Horizonte is the capital of Minas Gerais State, the point
of departure of a 1,400 km of the Royal Road. It was used
to carry gold and precious stones from the mines on horseback
and spread over the state until the prosperous port of Paraty
in Angra dos Reis Bay (the Kings' Bay).
In
Minas Gerais, you'll visit Ouro Preto also, a UNESCO World
Heritage Landmark, with many extremely ornate (gold leafed)
Baroque churches, religious architecture and sculpture reached
its zenith during the mid 1700's under the skillful hands
of Antonio Francisco Lisboa, better known as Aleijadinho ("Little
Cripple").
The
historical Tiradentes city is our next stop. In this city
one of the most important Brazilian movements, called Inconfidencia
Mineira, took place, crushed by the Crown and its leader,
a dentist named Tiradentes (Toothpooler).
Paraty
is a colonial relic and truly a work of art, that has been
declared as a national monument. The 30 small blocks that
comprise its historic center are lined with fine examples
of Portuguese colonial architecture.
Enjoy
the breathtaking stretches of coastline, countless beaches,
islands, forests, waterfalls and an infinite number of species
of the Brazilian flora and fauna.
