Antarctica
is Earth's southernmost continent, overlying the South Pole.
It is situated in the southern hemisphere, almost entirely
south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern
Ocean.
Antarctica
is home to more than 70 lakes that lie thousands of meters
under the surface of the continental ice sheet.
Antarctic
sea life includes penguins, blue whales, orcas and fur seals.
The Emperor penguin is the only penguin that breeds during
the winter in Antarctica, while the Adélie Penguin
breeds farther south than any other penguin. The Rockhopper
penguin has distinctive feathers around the eyes, giving the
appearance of elaborate eyelashes. King penguins, Chinstrap
penguins, and Gentoo Penguins also breed in the Antarctic.
Program
includes:
- Reception in Ushuaia and boarding the Antarctic Dream
- Pass Drake
- Isla Rey Jorge/Peninsula Antarctica: King George Island,
if weather allows it, possibility to take an over flight in
an helicopter
- Peninsula Antarctica/Neko Bay/Goudier Island, disembark
- Peninsula Antarctica/Lemaire Canal/Petermann Island, disembark
- Peninsula Antarctica/Paradise Bay/Cuverville Island
- Islas Decepcion/Whaler Bay/Pendulum Cove/Hanna Point, disembark
- 1 helicopter over flight as long as weather conditions permit
